QPI - Qualificar para Incluir, Associação de Solidariedade Social

Description of the organisation:
Qualificar para Incluir (Qualify to Include), Association of Social Solidarity recognized since 2002 as a Social Solidarity Particular Institution, supports 150 adolescents between 12 and 18 years old everyday.
These adolescents, 50 of whom are integrated in a night school system, share the objective of gaining formal education (atleast a secondary school diploma) seen as an indispensable tool to accede to other levels of education and to the job market.
They all share a common painful circumstance: since the beginning of life they have suffered the lack of almost everything that is essential to learn to develop personal a social useful goals. They are adolescent that didn't have the luck to grow up in a cosy home, situated in an area that doesn't offer motives to suspect of the dignity of those who live there. Their parents didn't have, and many of them still don't have, access to professions that guarantee stable living conditions, indispensable to organize an everyday life and turn it into small satisfactions that motivate the efforts that everyone has to have daily.
We know today, that to resist to destructive psycho-social impulses, it is necessary to posses something that is worth being preserved, a composing job and a positive identity.
Being convinced of such and to exorcise the reproduction of poverty and social marginalization, Qualificar para Incluir invests, in straight partnership with the Social Work Superior Institute of Porto and with many other institutions in the city, in creating a place where these adolescents have access to indispensable life experiences to alter their course, qualifying them personally and socially. It is the material and human conditions of their education that must be transformed drastically. To alter the way of feeling, thinking and acting it is essential to promote daily and intense relationships with adults that assume themselves as models, in what concerns skills to developp: put feelings and knowledge in what one is doing, developing a sens of cooperation in the groups, build confidence and respect, straighten significant relationships with others, get qualification to gain credits in the labour mark
